About Commtora

Know the real price before you negotiate

Commtora is a price benchmark and a sourcing desk for commodities — spices, coffee, nuts, oils, grains, minerals and more. We show buyers what a product really costs landed at their port, and we source it at origin when they want a better offer.

Why we exist

In commodity trade the price you are quoted is rarely the price the market pays. Procurement teams negotiate with one or two quotes and no independent reference. Commtora puts an independent, dated number next to every quote.

How the numbers are built

The Commtora Index (CTX) is built from public, independent sources: customs statistics from the EU (Eurostat Comext), the United States (U.S. Census Bureau) and the United Kingdom (HMRC), UN Comtrade and the World Bank commodity price data. Every figure carries its source and the month it describes.

We are open about the limits: customs data is monthly and arrives with a delay, and averages mix grades. The methodology explains what each number is — and what it is not.

How we work

Buyers start with a cost report — their price against the fair landed level for their origin and port — or send the desk a brief. We tell you when you are already buying well.

Producers and exporters list what they sell and see where their price sits against the market on Commtora for suppliers. Supplier prices are never shown to buyers or to other suppliers.

The prices buyers share with us stay private; they count only anonymously in the benchmark.
